Musings on life in Lodeve, Languedoc

February sunshine

Posted by celiahukins on 10/02/2011

After a gloomy and windy January in the UK it’s hard to believe that France still exists. But yes – it is still here and we welcome the sun as we step off the plane in Montpellier. Time for a beer in the sun before catching the bus to Lodève.

The garden is looking trim and tidy; Christian has been busy. It’s in-between weather at the moment – not really what you could call winter, but not spring yet although the mimosa is out. But everything will start to grow soon, Christian points out.

Of course the animals are still here too. The cat stares at me from the hedge – what are you doing here? – but turns away when I approach. There is no wind today. Dogs bark in the stillness – something has annoyed them. Christian’s dog has an encounter with the neighbours’ dogs and comes running back. “Now you stay here” says Christian, wagging his finger at him.

The yellow flowers on the bank are doing well.
